Andrea Quaglia’s dreams reflected a philosophy that wine must mirror passion, culture, creativity and terroir. In 2018, he embarked on an adventure to make high-end, natural wines using indigenous varieties. Having a family history in wine made his first steps easier when his Nonno, who had been making wine for 40 years, left his fortune, the oldest vineyards, to him.
The vineyards are situated just above sea level, nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso d’Italia. This unique location between the sun-capped mountains and sunlit beaches thrives a microclimate ideal for their high-quality wines. Controguerra, part of the DOCG Colline Teramane, is famous for its Montepulciano and Trebbiano grapes, as well as its rich biodiversity. The vines are 40-45 years old and have been farmed using biodynamic principles since 2020, treated with only biodynamic preparations that assist with microbiology in the soils. All the wines are fermented and aged in concreate tanks allowing for the purest expressions of the Teramo hills.
Red, white and rosato, Bossanova wines express freshly when young and can also be cellared for future enjoyment. Andrea is passionate about his wines and approach to natural winemaking, believing that the biggest part of the game is played in the vineyard. The combination of farmland, serene atmosphere, sea breeze, fertile soil, and the skilled hands of those who craft Bossanova wine all contribute to a wine that reflects the spirit of those who drink it: vibrant, authentic, and real.
