Purchased in 2001, Château La Croix Teynac is the first vineyard acquisition of the Lannoye family, and the beginning of their family adventure into the Bordeaux vineyards. Françoise Lannoye fell in love with the incredible point of view from the château, which overlooks a property of 22 hectares located south of the Puisseguin Saint-Emilion appellation, on the Route of Santiago de Compostela. It has a typical house called “longère”, a traditional style for the area that dates back to the 19th century.
The vines of the property are divided into three different geological areas of the appellation : clay on calcareous, clay on silicious and clay on limestone. This terroir diversity combined with individual plot vinification allows the winery to create a palette of typicity when blending. When the Lannoye family purchased the vineyards they augmented the plantation density in order to obtain regularity in grape maturation in all vintages, and planted new grape varietals such as Malbec. All of the plantings are non-productive clones that match the typicity of the terroir.
The appellation Puisseguin Saint-Émilion is a small appellation of 800 hectares, one of the “satellites of Saint-Émillion”. Living in the shadow of St-Emilion means these are mostly undiscovered gems that still show the strong character of the region.
