Château Les Petits Arnauds was established in the 18th century, and to this day its origins and history remain unknown. Located in Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux on the banks of the Gironde river, the estate looks upon the Citadelle de Blaye, as well and Margaux and St. Julien. An old and very tall windmill stands on the property, and has become something of an unofficial mascot for the winery, making its way onto every wine label.
A family of vinyerons since 1832, the estate is now run by cousins Nicolas and Sébastien Carreau, after taking ownership alongside their grandfather in 2005. Today they farm 69 hecatres of vine, planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, on clay-based soil. In these vineyards there are a mix of old and young vines, creating a balance and complex tension in the wines. The young vines bring bright fruit and nervy acidity, and are complemented by the earth and character of old vines. The resulting wines are supple and fruit forward, with soft tannins.
Extremely dedicated to the environment and the quality of their wines, they work with great care and practices in the vineyard. They have obtained the Terra Vitis certification of sustainability.
