Purchased by the Goulpier family in 1929 after selling their baking business, Château Rousset Caillau is now in its fourth generation of family ownership. The wines are an expression of excellence and elegance, correcting the preconceived notion across the Atlantic that a "good Bordeaux is an expensive Bordeaux".

The estate is located on the watershed between the Garonne and the Dordogne estuaries, an area known as “Entre-Deux-Mers”  Despite being surrounded by water, only some small streams were available as water sources for irrigation, so a great amount of effort is devoted to building and maintaining the property’s network of wells and channels. The vines are found on clay-limestone soils for the most part and oriented south, southwest, and southeast, a favorable orientation for the cultivation, with moderate slopes.

Throughout the years the vintages produced reflect a family adventure using their skills and knowledge to produce great wine, each generation expanding, improving, and leaving their own mark on the estate and its wines. In 2008, fourth-generation owner Catherine took over caring for the vineyards with her husband Sébastien Léglise. Over the ensuing years, the older generations worked with the new to pass down the family knowledge.
