After rowing across the Atlantic in 2012, Benoît Soulies and his wife Maud, decided to make their dream come true and took over Château La Brande, a property established since 1730 in Saillans in Gironde, France.
The winery is located on the beautiful Saillans in Gironde, France. Established at the start of 1730 in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux region, they have been cultivating vineyards organically and transforming fine grapes into exemplary wines since 2012. The estate, along with its vineyards, rests among the hills facing south, producing exceptional wines which received 1st Gold medal at Concours General Agricole de Paris in 1906.
The vineyard is spread across 18 hectares of clay-limestone soils, of which 7 are in AOP Fronsac while the other 11 are in AOP Bordeaux Supérieur. They produce bottlings of magnificent Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sémillon, and Sauvignon Gris grape varieties that are harvested manually or mechanically depending on the wine. All the vinifications are done without the use of sulfur and following biodynamic techniques, Château La Brande ensures unblemished, perfectly ripe fruit that provides an exceptional choice of handcrafted wines.
Château La Brande takes their winemaking seriously and passionately. They mature their Fronsac wines using 2 methods to meet individual tastes. Wines are aged in vats for 18 months or in oak barrels for 24 months to get the best of the blend. The winery has never been afraid to use new winemaking techniques and has started using amphorae in 2020 to produce a new wine. The winery specializes in organic whites aged on lees in oak barrels, fresh Rosés, Crémant Blancs Bruts, and powerful reds.
