This family-run winery in Nuits-Saint-Georges was established in 1983 by the winemaker Arnaud and his two sons, Alban and Alexis. They have made it their project to rehabilitate old hillside vineyards that were abandoned due to war or phylloxera and never replanted, owing to the expense of cultivating these compared to flatter vineyards.
The winery is located at the south of Nuits Saint Georges, close to Premeaux-Prissey. The domaine now comprises 20 Ha of vines spread between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. Vines are cultivated in chalky soil mixed with clay and limestone. The 19th-century caves have superb vaults which give a "cathedral" effect to the wine cellar. After a long restoration period undertaken by the Domaine, the vineyards are today in excellent condition, with vines averaging an age of 30 years old and some even dating back to 1914. All the fruit is harvested by hand and the reds ferment with 10-20% whole clusters. The wines are aged in an unusual combination of French and American oak. 10-25% new.
