Pitars is a family vineyard in the Grave del Friuli regions, with a history in viticulture dating backing to 1644. However, it was only in 1968 that the family built a modern winery- the Cantina San Martino which produced superior white wines. Later, the name Cantina San Martino was changed to Pitars, following the destiny of the family name in the local dialect.
The grand 167 hectares of vineyard of Pitras winery is extended in Friuli Venezia Giulia between the provinces of Pordenone and Udine in San Martino al Tagliamentio, Rivolto, and Passariano as well as the prosecco producing zones in Valdobiadenne.
Today, Loris, Bruno, Mauro, Paolo, and the fourth generation of Pitars: Nicola, Stefano, and Alessandro, continue the rural family legacy and the craft of making good wine with pride and passion, day after day.
