Conceived in 2010 and started in a loft in Los Angeles, CA, in 2014 (the Bear republic), Loft & Bear is owned by Paul Ryan Elliott. Motivated by his love for high-quality vodka and the local California terroir, Paul makes his vodka from soft, organic winter wheat, and slightly alkaline, 100% pure California mountain spring water- making Loft and Bear is one of the best-tasting vodkas around.

 Incredibly, less than 1% of distilleries are black owned. Paul is a black man, born into a proud lineage of black entrepreneurs and scholars from Tulsa OK, going all the way back to Black Wall Street. The distillery is built in South Central, LA, a location chosen for its deep roots with the African American community. Loft & Bear was born to create jobs within the community, emphasize education on vodka production, and to become a place for people to come together and share in a drink and camaraderie.
