Loop de Loop is a charming family-run winery founded by Julia Bailey in 2012, drawing on her extensive experience in the Oregon wine industry. After spending nearly a decade honing her craft, Julia returned to university for a master's degree in International Relations, which led her to work with women in business in the occupied Palestinian Territories. Her journey eventually brought her back to Oregon, where she assisted a friend during the harvest, and worked closely with Mimi Casteel, igniting her passion for winemaking. With an unwavering commitment to using wild yeast fermentation since their first vintage, Julia creates wines that showcase the unique terroir of their vineyard while allowing for transparency and authenticity. She believes that the interactions with lees add minerality, texture, and umami to the wine, making each bottle a true reflection of its origin.

Scott Gulstine joined Julia in 2015, transitioning from his role as a physical therapist to become a full-time grape farmer and winemaker. Their shared dream of building a vineyard led them to establish the Light Anthology Vineyard in the breathtaking Cascade Range, just an hour from Portland. This high-altitude site, characterized by volcanic soils, provides ideal conditions for producing delicate wines with bright acidity and captivating aromatics. Scott focuses on regenerative farming practices, working diligently to restore soil health and promote biodiversity, ensuring that the vineyard remains a thriving ecosystem that enhances the quality of their wines.

With Luna, their playful winery dog, by their side, Julia and Scott craft wines that embody their passion for family, community, and the land. Their side project, Wallflower Project, emphasizes the joy of approachable wines, while Loop de Loop remains dedicated to producing exceptional, terroir-driven offerings that highlight the unique character of the Columbia Gorge AVA.
