The Poissinet family has been farming vines in the Marne Valley since the 17th century, though the first bottles of Champagne from the family estate were produced only in 1974. In 1983, at the age of 14 Régis Poissinet started work at the domaine and instantly developed a pride and passion for his family’s work and for the land. In 2008 Régis took the reins of the estate, and with his leadership came a new direction and ethos. Over his years of apprenticeship he immersed himself in the study of terroir and how it relates to every aspect of culture, land and life. He became taken by the philosophy of Biodynamics and its grander ideas of interconnectedness.

With its 7 hectares certified in biodynamic farming, Poissinet has a total of 35 plots of vines with an average age of 40 years. The main varietal is Pinot Meunier, although the estate also farms Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are rooted on the various clay-limestone and silty-limestone soils of the Vallée de la Marne and are cultivated with great respect toward their natural environment. The work in the cellar reflects the domaine’s holistic approach—keeping a constant eye on the tanks and barrels as they vinify their fruit—and choosing to play supporting roles rather than intervening too much.

Recently, Régis Poissinet’s son, Maxime has joined him in his work in the vineyards and in the cellar. Their mutual goal is to keep the estate a family affair, maintaining the health of their vineyards, and the robustness of their wines for years to come.
