The Brutocao family have been growing wine grapes in Mendocino County for over 75 years. Family patriarch Irv Bliss grew pears, prunes, walnuts, and a large family garden just outside of Healdsburg, in Sonoma County, California. For years Irv dreamed of planting a vineyard in Mendocino, which he believed to be one of the best places to grow grapes. In 1943 he got his chance to purchase a plot of land in Southern Mendocino County, immediately planting the original vineyard. He farmed those vines for over 35 years before his son-in-law, Leonard Brutocao, took over the business, producing their first estate-bottled vintage in 1980.
The Wish Wine Co. project is the Brutocao family’s collaboration with Sommelier Dave Bender to offer a product that combined his wine experience and passion for entertaining friends and family, with the Brutocao family’s 75 year history of growing grapes and producing wine. The primary vineyard source for the Wish Wine Co. is the Brutocao family's 380-acre estate vineyard in Mendocino County, in California’s North Coast region. All the fruit that goes into these wines is sustainably farmed, carefully selected to produce handcrafted wines of unmatched value and authenticity.
