Ledge Syrah James Berry 2013

Wine Advocate: 95pts

The 2013 Syrah James Berry Vineyard is flat out gorgeous! Incorporating a splash of Grenache, fermented with 60% whole clusters and aged 18 months in new 400-liter barrels, this full-bodied, elegant and seamless Syrah has first rate complexity in its black raspberry, cassis, crushed flowers, lavender and violet-tinged bouquet. Impeccably balanced, with fine tannin and nicely integrated acidity, it's a rock star effort to enjoy anytime over the coming decade. Jeb Dunnuck 2016

Vinous: 94pts

Glass-staining purple. Wild, powerfully scented blue fruit, lavender and Asian spice aromas expand and deepen with air, picking up suggestions of cola and woodsmoke. Sweet, seamless and concentrated, offering sappy black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors that show a deft blend of power and vivacity. Closes sweet and juicy, with outstanding persistence and fine-grained tannins. There isn't much of this one to go around but it's well worth the hunt. Josh Raynolds, Sep 2015
