Giodo Rosso 2015

James Suckling: 97pts - #31 Top 100 Italian Wines of 2017

This is a linear and dense red with blackberry, black cherry and floral aromas and flavors. Full body, tight and powerful. This is so focused and long. I love the fresh acidity and solid, fruit-coated tannins. A new wine from Carlo Ferrini's tiny Brunello estate. Will drink better in 2020.

International Wine Report: 92pts

The 2015 Giodo Toscana Rosso opens to aromas of cherries, wild berries, dried floral, licorice, orange peel and hints of crushed stones all taking shape in the glass. This medium-bodied Rosso is elegant and well balanced with lovely fine, silky tannins and lovely overall balance. A lovely showing from Carlo Ferrini, however this will ultimately be best after a few years of bottle age. (Best 2019-2029) - April, 2016 (JD)

Wine Advocate: 92pts

Carlo Ferrini's 2015 Giodo is a pure expression of Sangiovese from a sunny but cool growing site at the southeastern corner of the appellation. What stands out here is the quality of the primary fruit, which is exuberant and rich but elegantly contained at the same time. Compared to the 2016 vintage, this edition is more boisterous or in your face. Dark cherry and blackberry segue to sweet spice and a delicate touch of eucalyptus.
