Vinous: 94 pts
Deep red. Pungent saline and flinty nuances complement blueberry and red cherry aromas. Then noteworthy mineral edge adds punch to the wine's concentrated red fruit and floral flavors. Still very youthful, the middle palate is somewhat under wraps today, but this expands very nicely on the back half, finishing with ripe tannins and seductive lingering sweetness. Made from 60-80 year old vines grown at 580 meters above sea level, the wine is aged 18-24 months in a mix of French and Slavonian oak barrels.
James Suckling: 91 pts
Shows a solid depth of ripe-fruit, walnut and hazelnut character on the nose and palate. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a juicy finish. A little tannic now, so better in 2019.
