International Wine Report: 94pts
The 2013 ‘Pannobile’ is a simply gorgeous showing from Claus Preisinger, which is composed of 60% Zweigelt and 40% Blaufränkisch from the ‘Pannobile’ area. As this opens it releases beautiful aromas of red and black berries woven together with violets, pepper and a lovely saline mineral character. On the palate this is beautifully structured with a silky, refined texture and bright acidity leading into the long, elegant finish. Claus is a biodynamic farmer who practices natural and traditional winemaking methods and the results pay off handsomely, as this is one of the most impressive reds I can recall from the region. While this is already quite approachable, it should also continue to drink well as it evolves over the course of the next decade. (Best 2017-2029) - January, 2017 (JD)
